How it all started...
In 1928, the need for a Pentecostal church resulted in an Assemblies of God Mission being established. Families in Carlsbad, Rocky Arroyo and this general area came together to establish the church. The first Pastor was N C Whitlock. They built a church at 909 W Stevens. The church later became the First Assembly of God.
In 1942 they built a new church at 1502 W Mermod. In 1959, the old church was torn down and a new one erected at the same location.
In 1976, the church purchased the Phillips Boot Shop at 1414 W Mermod and converted it into a fellowship hall.
In 1982, a two story Christian Education building, attached to the sanctuary, was completed.

Expanding the vision...
At the present time, under the leadership of Pastor Brad Coates, a new era of excitement has begun! We launched the "Project Jubilee" expansion, which has included an overhaul of our facilities such as a complete modern renovation of our Sanctuary, our KFC kids ministry areas, our Fellowship Hall, a new parking lot,, a brand new Gymnasium for the teens... and so much more! And through it all we have remained DEBT FREE!
But most important of all has been the constant expansion of our new ministries, and creative outreaches. We exist to do all we can to reach every single person looking for a place to fit and belong!

Where we are headed...
We are continually looking for new ways to "CONNECT"
Whether it is through new ministries such as Celebrate Recovery, or though new events like Bible Art, VBS, Trunk R Treat, or 4th of July outreach to 1st responders...
If we can imagine it, we believe God will inspire and empower us to do it... to launch into NEW areas for his glory and for the building up our "church family" and our community.
